From the Fiera to the Glass: our story with Italian craft beer
After years of dreaming about it, BeersAndTips.it is finally here. A space to explore the brewers, the places, and the people redefining Italian beer tradition.
We’ve been talking about doing this for a long time.
For years, our weekends in Belo Horizonte revolved around craft beer — always hunting for the next great spot, the next interesting pour. When we moved to Italy, that instinct didn’t go anywhere. It just found a new landscape to explore. And what a landscape.
The first discoveries
Even before the Fiera, one of our first encounters with the local scene was Birrificio Artigianale Valscura, an independent craft brewery, unpretentious, and completely focused on what matters: what’s in the glass. A place that captures the spirit of this world perfectly.
Where It Really Began
Our true introduction to the Italian artigianale world didn’t come from a guidebook. It came from a warm afternoon at the Fiera della Birra in Santa Lucia di Piave.
Standing there, surrounded by enthusiasts and artisans, something shifted. We stopped being just consumers and started becoming part of the conversation. Meeting the owners and brewers behind La Rü (Birrificio Artigianale Bosco Fagarè) and Plotegher from Trentino-Alto Adige turned our curiosity into something that needed a name and a URL.
At breweries, the person serving you at the bar is often the owner themselves. At fairs like this one, you might find yourself chatting with the brewmaster who made what’s in your glass. Take advantage of that, cause those conversations are worth as much as the beer itself.
What’s Coming
In the coming weeks we’ll be writing about breweries, beers, and the places that have stayed with us. There’s a lot to discover, and we can’t wait to share it with you.
Grab a glass, and let’s explore together.
Cheers!
